I got the following (really quick!) response from Mr. Faure:

Richard, I am forwarding your email address to Marcus, and I recommend
that you offer to work with him rather than generate another HOWTO on the
same topic. Since he appears to be too busy at the moment to work on it,
perhaps he would be amenable to your contributions. Or not, but who knows
until you ask, right?

Since I *was* able to contact him, the point is moot. The licensing issue
is still valid, however, and I'm asking Marcus to address this by applying
the free license of his choice.
